A Brief History
Yusuf Mirza was born in 1959 in the Lachin district of Azerbaijan and he began drawing while still very young. One of his earliest paintings was published in the ‘Pioneer’ magazine.
In 1976 he entered the Graphics Faculty of the Baku Pedagogical Institute and had his first Solo Exhibition, ‘Lachin Etudes’, at the Institute in 1980. In 1981 he graduated and was awarded a distinction for his painting diploma thesis.
From 1981-1985 Yusif worked as an artist in the Lachin Folk Theatre, designing and painting scenery. Since 1985 he has
successfully participated in exhibitions in Azerbaijan and foreign countries.
In 1997 he became a member of the Azerbaijan Artists’ Union.
Yusif is married to Perl, an engineering mathematician, and they have two children, Esmer and Ali.
Yusif Mirza is in his most fruitful period of creation.
